About Unstable Cotton

Unstable Cotton is a small shop for people who like their t-shirts a little weird on purpose.

We sell funny graphic tees: pop culture nods, movie and music jokes, art parodies, cats doing things cats should not be doing. Soft shirts. Bold prints. Most designs sit at $19.99, with free shipping.

How this started

Before there was a store, there was a self-published coffee table book of AI-made images that dropped cats into famous paintings, photos, and movie scenes. One of those pieces, a cat version of Edvard Munch’s The Scream, became the first Unstable Cotton shirt. A lot of the “art inspired” designs still trace back to that experiment.

The name may or may not be a sideways wink at Stable Diffusion. Even the person running this place is not entirely sure. That feels on-brand.

Who’s behind it

One human, picking designs they actually want to wear, plus a long-running habit of putting cats (and other nonsense) where they don’t belong. The “office cats” you see in some of our content are AI characters, not a real cat staff. The jokes are real. The shirts are real.

If something makes it into Owner Favorites, that usually means it gets worn a lot around here, not that a committee voted on it.

The free oven mitt

Every day, the 8th customer wins a free oven mitt. It’s a The Jerk bit. We meant it as a joke and kept it because the joke still works. (Yes, there is also a thermos shirt for the same reason.)
